125 People...

"like" my campaign on Facebook!

Thank you! This campaign is more than fund raising. Though donations are much appreciated, I wanted to raise awareness about this cause and water resource issue. Education is the most important tool for development and sustainable progress. So, what I really want to say is... keep "liking" and please help spread the word to those around you.

Happy last day of August :)

SEPTEMBER D-1

Only 1 day before it's September already!
I cannot thank people enough for helping reach our goal before September even came by. It's truly amazing. As most of you know, I raised my goal to $1250 to see if we can meet this before our event on September 9th. We are only $90 away from our new goal and we still have 10 days. WE CAN DO THIS!

Exciting news:
Our campaign site and blog was featured in this week's September Campaign emails that charity: water sent out! I was so shocked to see my name. Other campaigners have raised so much money - check out their sites! In fact, charity: water has already surpassed $100,000! The email said:

MILESTONE -- $100,000 RAISED.

Today, we topped $100,000 raised -- and it's not even September yet!

All of you helped us get here, but we want to give a shout out to those who have raised $1,000 in just the first two weeks of the campaign.

Here are a few of our favorite campaigns so far:

* Drew Neisser's Blog 4 Bayaka
* Joanna Shin's September Campaign (also see her blog)
* Deron Triff's 42nd Birthday
* David Chan's Chanimal Crackers
* Therese Nguyen's 30th Birthday
* Lori Jacobwith's 50th Birthday
* Phil & Julie's Give Back Campaign
* Brian Monahan's 23rd Birthday
* Keke Palmer's 17th Birthday

And if you haven’t already spotted it – check out our Facebook page where we’re posting new behind-the-scenes videos. You'll notice Jim Hocking himself is adding some commentary from the ground in C.A.R. where he’s preparing for our first drill on September 7!

Join charity: water's Facebook page to stay tuned for more C.A.R. coverage. Remember to please help spread the word for http://mycharitywater.org/joanna

Thank you!

WE DID IT!

We surpassed our goal!
$1025 can give 51 people clean water for 20 years. Water will change everything or these people. Disease will dramatically be reduced. Children will be able to go to school and get an education. Men and women will be able to dedicate more time to their jobs, increasing productivity and lowering the poverty level.

But it's not over yet. I still have 36 days in my campaign and 2 weeks until the event. I think you can keep going and make a greater difference before the night of the event. Challenge yourself to do even more and keep spreading the word.

Thank you for your wonderful support and dedication to the cause! Congrats again to all those who helped!

5 Iced Tall Soy Lattes

Watch Jennifer Connelly for charity:water here.

We're ALMOST halfway there! Please don't let the momentum stop! This is going to amazing, but all with your support. To me $20 = 5 Iced Tall Soy Lattes to get through the week, to someone else, that's 20 YEARS of clean drinking water.

What does $20 mean to you?

You can help fund a drilling project just like the one you see below. To many, water is more precious than diamonds - it's the only way to live and survive. We have always been taught that our body is made up of 75% water. What if you didn't have clean water to drink?

September Campaign

September campaign is on its way!

To donate please check http://mycharitywater.org/joanna

Have you ever said, "I'm dying of thirst?" If so, I bet you didn't really mean it.

If you're like me, you don't spend too much time thinking about water - it's everywhere we go. When we're thirsty, we flip a handle or push a button. When we're dirty, we twist a shower knob. When our garden needs watering, when our pasta needs to be boiled, when we use the bathroom - water's just there for the taking.

But for a billion people on the planet, it's not. Millions of women and children have to walk hours each day to get water from muddy ponds and rivers. And much of that water is infested with parasites and leeches. In fact, 80% of all diseases in the world are caused by unsafe drinking water and lack of sanitation.

When I learned that only $20 can give someone clean, safe water for two decades, I decided to start a campaign to help. Now, my goal is to raise $1000 to build wells in developing nations. And the cool thing about charity: water is that they spend 100% of the money I raise directly on the water projects - 100%!. Even better, when projects are complete, every dollar is tied to village and all the wells are posted on Google Earth.

I've never actually been dying of thirst. And if you're like me, you'd like to see a world where no one does. Together, we can make a dent in the global water crisis. I hope you'll consider helping.

The charity: water event will be held at Gallery Bar at 120 Orchard Street, NYC on September 9 at 8:30PM. There we will all join together to learn more about the cause, enjoy great music, and celebrate together our campaign progress!

When you donate $20 (or more) your name will be placed on our list that will be checked the night of the event. Please donate before 6PM September 9, 2010 so we can have you on the list at Gallery Bar.

We will have DJ Jamieson Hill flying in from Tokyo to specially DJ for us!
Stay tuned for more details.
